Abstract
The publication of *The Strongest Link: An Oral History of Wartime Rape Survivors in Kosovo*, by Anna Di Lellio and Garentina Kraja, constituted an editorial framework of immense relevance for those of us working in the areas of recent history, memory studies, human rights and gender perspectives. Embora's work addresses a specific and situated experience — or the rape of Albanian women during the Kosovo War —, its reflections largely transcend that national context. The book dialogues with questions that are imposed on all societies confronted with extreme violence: how to hear survivors, how to narrate what was socially silenced, how to conceive sexual violence in contexts of war and repression and how to construct forms of reconfirmation that do not perpetuate or harm.
